Temple Cloud with Cameley Parish Council is pleased to announce that there are now two public access defibrillators located within the parish. This life saving emergency equipment has been funded for the community by the Parish Council.
The original unit is located on the front entrance to Temple Cloud Garage a garage occupying a central position on the main road within Temple Cloud – where MOTs, servicing tyres, repairs and other services are carried out. Owner Ian Gough has always supported hosting this life saving equipment and continues to make it available for the community by hosting it on the front of the garage along with the support of new co-owner Paul Bray.
Council chairman, Tony Hooper, said : “I am delighted the Parish Council supported the purchase of a second defibrillator for the village. Cameley school has been enthusiastic about hosting the life saving equipment and for that I would like to thank Head teacher, Miss Hannah Maggs. Our original defibrillator, outside Temple Cloud Garage, is testament to the generosity of owner, Ian Gough and his team.
“The Parish Council will be hosting a number of events in the coming months based around the defibrillators and first aid. Watch this space for further details or go to our website www.templecloud.org.uk for regular updates.”
The second public access defibrillator, supplied by local company Heartsafe, was recently installed at Cameley Church of England VC Primary School after Headteacher Miss Hannah Maggs agreed to host the unit at the school.
Headteacher at Cameley Primary School Miss Maggs said : “We believe that Cameley Primary School is situated in a key focal area in Temple Cloud. We strive to be an open and welcoming school who want to have firm roots within the local community. We are also geographically located near many of the houses and certainly the defibrillator is within easy reach for many people.
“We wanted to support this worthy project. Although we hope that no one actually needs to use the defibrillator, it is there is cases of emergency.
“I understand that the Parish Council are planning on raising the profile of the defibrillator still further within the community, which is great. As it is located in a prominent position we want everyone to know where it is and how to access it, if necessary. A big well done to the Parish Council who have installed this and are committed to the upkeep and maintenance.”
The installation of this latest unit was sponsored by local business Cervus Electrical Services. It’s owner, Jack Budd, formerly calling himself J. Budd Electrical Services offered to sponsor the installation of this unit to benefit residents of the parish. He said : “As well as helping out the local community that I have grown up in, I feel that it was great service to provide the installation costs as it will hopefully be used for great purposes and save lives. It has been a great privilege to be asked to complete such a task.”
Parish council clerk, Jenny Howell, said : “The Parish Council would like to thank both Temple Cloud Garage and Cameley Church of England VC Primary School for their ongoing commitment to host this life saving equipment and making it accessible to all. “Anyone living within the parish, or passing through, will have the peace of mind that a defibrillator is now immediately available at two locations, should anyone suffer a cardiac arrest. “The parish council would also like to thank Cervus Electrical Services for their sponsorship of the installation at the school.”
