2407_[1] PUBLIC PARTICIPATION SESSION

A presentation was received from the Development Director of Regener8 regarding the proposals for a solar farm at Stowey. The Parish Council were invited to submit ideas for possible community benefits. Members of the public were encouraged to visit the exhibition at Bishop Sutton Village Hall, Wick Road, Bishop Sutton, BS39 5XQ on Monday 22nd July, from 3pm to 6.15pm

2407_[4] Confirmation of Minutes

RESOLVED: The Parish Council meeting minutes of Tuesday 11th June 2024 were confirmed as an accurate record and signed by Chairman.

2407_[5] Chairman’s Report

  • There was no report from the Chairman

2407_[6] Clerk’s Report

  • Overgrown hedges had been reported to BANES (Refer to emails in appendix)
  • Replacement mobile phone had been purchased
  • Noted: correspondence shared with council members listed in the appendix. Members were encouraged to submit a consultation response regarding parking charges

2407_[7] Members Reports, Responsibilities and Meetings Attended

  • A report was received from Cllr Warden regarding updates on a War Memorial for the village. Arrangements were confirmed for the next stages of the project. Members were encouraged to bring suggestions of memorial stone designs from examples found online to review at the next meeting.
  • Arrangements were confirmed for flower show on Saturday 10th August

2407_[8] Ward Councillor’s Report

  • Apologies for absence were received from BANES District Cllr David Wood

2407_[9] Village Hall and Open Spaces Reports

  • Graffiti on the pump track has been removed
  • Arson in the playground gazebo has been reported to police
  • Vandalism of the village hall notice board has been captured on CCTV and reported to police for investigation
  • [This item of business was reviewed at the start of the meeting] CCTV equipment was reviewed with support from a local resident. New equipment and cameras had been recommended and quotations were reviewed. The Parish Council authorised the Clerk to act under the emergency scheme of delegation to order and make payment for a new 16 channel 8MP CCTV system with new cameras with a budget of £2500 in relation to the quotations reviewed by the Parish Council. The Parish Council thanked the local resident for offering to source and supply the equipment at cost including a trade discount and to install the new system at no additional cost.
  • The container had been installed and ramps had been provided for mower access
  • Goal posts had been delivered
  • Door handles and push plates had been ordered for the village hall decorating work
  • RESOLVED: Approval of bus stop refurbishment quotation for a complete replacement and installation
