Dear Parish Clerk
Under the Representation of the People Act 1983, Bath & North East Somerset Council has a duty to:
- divide its area into polling districts
- designate a polling place for each polling district, and
- review the polling districts and polling places regularly.
The next compulsory review must be undertaken by 31 January 2025. However, it is important that it is carried out as early as possible, in order to have an up-to-date polling scheme in place in time for the Police and Crime Commissioner election on Thursday 2 May 2024 and for the next parliamentary election, which must take place by no later than 28 January 2025.
I have attached the following documents:
- details about the review process, including the timetable
- details about the current arrangements for every ward in Bath and North East Somerset, including the Acting Returning Officer’s suggestions for changes.
I would be grateful if you could circulate this email to your parish councillors. We invite comments on the current arrangements for your Parish Council and proposed changes (if any) by no later than Monday 20 November.
